Friday (5 Aug) Update

In this post I would like to report back on the following:
1. Elite Cleaners and industrial action (strike)

2. Lifts & entrance turnstile
3. Library rules and regulations
4. UJLink (Opac) training
5. Staff on leave: 10 -12 Aug

1. Elite Cleaners & industrial action (strike)
You might have noticed that the cleaners are still on strike and it will probably continue next week. Since my last feedback to you, more temporary cleaners have been allocated to the library. Thus far, I have not received complaints on areas that have not been cleaned. Should you notice/identify areas that are not cleaned, please inform me immediately. We will arrange for these areas to be cleaned.

2. Lifts & entrance turnstile
One of the lifts did not work for a while. It was repaired this week and all lifts should be working now.

One of the turnstiles at the entrance have been out of order for a while. It has been reported to security and they are waiting for the relevant part that has to be replaced.

3. Library rules and regulations
The current rules and regulations have been updated to accommodate the regulation of student Internet usage, cable theft and damaging of PC's. The updated version was already forwarded to all Team Leaders. The current version on the web page will also in due course be replaced by the new version. Follow the link below for access to the web version (as mentioned, not yet updated):

4. UJLink (Opac) training
According to the July monthly reports, some staff requested training on UJLink. To accommodate this request, training has been arranged for Monday, 5 September, in the library training room on level 1 from 8:30am to 10:30am. I would appreciate it if all Info Desk, Shelving and Circulation staff could attend. A big thank you to Ronel for being willing to conduct the training.

5. Staff leave: 10 - 12 Aug
I am sure you need not to be reminded that the library will be closed on 8 & 9 August. Some of the staff are taking the opportunity to go on leave. Below is the names of staff that will be on leave and their back-ups:
* Annelize Scholtz - back-up: Ronel Smit
* Stanley Modau - back-ups: Joseph Mfomadi & Trevor Hoffman
* Vivian Moore - Janina (Doreen Matsemela will assist with introduction letters).

Wishing you all a stunning long weekend!
