Update: 27 Jan 2012

It has been a while since my last update, but I am sure you will agree with me that things have been hectic! Last week the team leaders and I spent three days in a strategic planning workshop and this week most of my time was devoted to finishing our annual report. Information regarding the strategic workshop will be shared with you at our general staff meeting. We are still trying to find a suitable date for our meeting, but hope to do it before classes start.

In this update I would like to welcome Dude Tshabalala from the APB library. Dudu started working in our library on 20 January as Subject Librarian for: Education and Health Sciences. Dudu we hope that you will find working here stimulating and exciting.

I am not sure if all of you saw the circular announcing the the Alumni office have moved. They are now located at 6 Plantation Road (behind MacDonalds) and their new telephone numbers are: 011-559 2431 or 011-559 4785.

Below a short summary of important dates (just to make sure you know what is happening when at UJ):
Registration of senior students: 23 Jan to 3 Feb
Registration of first years: 30 Jan to 31 Jan
Orientation of first years: 1 Feb to 3 Feb
Classes start on: 6 Feb
The library will be open until 10pm (Weekdays) and 3pm (Saturdays) as from 30 Jan.
