Update: 19 to 23 September

In this post I will provide feedback on the Collection Management and Development Task Team (CDMTT) meeting as well UJ Diversity week and Heritage day.

CDMTT
The meeting was held on 20 September and chaired by Annette Liebenberg.

Currently we are experiencing problems with the delivery of printed newspapers. While this is being attended to, a webpage has been created to provide easier access to electronic newspapers: http://www.uj.ac.za/EN/Library/InformationSources/Pages/Newspapers.aspx

In order to evaluate the book exhibition that was held two months ago, ACP is in process of designing a questionnaire. This will be handed out to Subject/Faculty Librarians and academic staff who attended the book exhibition. Results will be used to improve future book exhibitions.
ACP is also currently attending to the reclamation project. This entails the updating of holdings (JC codes) on Sabinet. At the meeting Annette mentioned that they would like to finish this project before they start with the analysis of the collection.

I mentioned that we would like to separate thesis and dissertations in a separate collection, per level, during the November – December period. This project was approved by the meeting.
I friendly reminder to all Subject/Faculty Librarians that the due date for subscription responses is today (23 Sept).

Diversity week
Diversity week was celebrated at UJ during this week and several events took place. Below a few photographs of a current display the Archives of the DFC library.

Heritage day

Tomorrow (24 Sept) is national heritage day – the library will be closed.

Enjoy your BRAAI DAY TOMORROW!
